Piazza del Campidoglio
Michelangelo conceived this marvellous square, and designed also the two palaces
situated on the its opposite sides. The Cordonata is the grand flight of steps,
also designed by Michelangelo especially for the triumphal entry of the Emperor
Charles V in 1536, which takes to the Piazza Aracoeli.
The Equestian stuatue of Marcus Aurelius was removed in 1981 and it’s situated
now in the Museo Capitolino. In the piazza there is now a copy.
