Limone Sul Garda is a very nice town (less than 1000 inhabitants), located on Lake Garda.
The name of the town becomes from latin “limen”, that means “border”.
As a matter of fact, until the second world war, Limone was reachable only by mountain roads or by lake; economy was based on agriculture and fishing. Then Limone has become an important touristic town.
Here you can find a wonderful panorama, with an amazing view on the Garda lake. Olive trees, lemon trees (lemon fruit is the typical product of this lakeside) and other mediterranean vegetation grow easily thanks to a mild microclimate, that allows the practice of many sports. Summers are cool and fresh, winters are mild.
Windsurf, swim, mountain bike and sailing are the most popular sport in this enchanted part of the lake: many different winds blow over the lake for the joy of windsurfers and sailings, abrupt mountains encourage mountain bikers with beautiful paths.
Limone has to be to be visited not only for its natural merits: the Romanic chapel named St. Peters church is one of the oldest attestation of the presence of religion in this lakeside. Hotels and restaurants complete the wide offer of services for the tourists.
